The Western Highlands zone includes the Boulder and Thousand Lakes Mountains which range in elevation well over 11,000 feet. These high mountain zones offer serene getaways for hiking, horseback riding and fishing. Local communities are situated in nearby valleys and offer picturesque views in all directions. Local services included lodging, dining, and shopping. This entire  area is ideal for summer hiking, mountain biking, ATV riding, and wildlife viewing.   Winter-time visitors enjoy the snow-covered elevations for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snow-shoeing and scenic splendor. This is the western gateway to Capitol Reef National Park.
