About Fremont

Fremont Utah is a small town with an elevation of 7,200 feet and a population of approximately 200. The town was named for American explorer John C. Fremont, who made a near-deadly expedition through the area in the winter of 1853. The town is located just five miles from the Wayne County seat, Loa. A six acre county park lies between the two towns, offering camping and trout fishing. Within the park, an historic monument at Allred Point pays homage to Mormon pioneers. Fremont proper offers RV camping at the north end of town, near the Forsyth Reservoir. The reservoir offers access to Elkhorn Campground. The nearby Fremont River offers excellent rainbow trout fishing.
